how does this work?

Build any cool hardware that calculates things! Mechanical keyboard calculators, a scrolling π generator, a currency converter, or more - infinity's the limit!

Track your time using Hackatime or Lapse, and create a schematic, wiring diagram/PCB, 3D CAD designs & firmware

We'll give you a grant card to buy hardware, with $5 per hour you work on your project! You'll also recieve a collection of exclusive stickers!

Can I participate?

Anyone 18 or younger can participate!

Can I use AI?

AI can be used for research and learning, but your project must be no more than 10% AI-generated!

What are the project requirements?

Your project should:

be a calculator or calculator-related project
be open source and publicly available
have a README.md written by YOU!
have a BOM.csv with all parts required, quantity, purchase link and price
include all schematic, PCB (or wiring diagram), CAD, and firmware files
be less than 10% AI-generated

How do I track time?

Use Hackatime with any text editor of your choice for coding, and Lapse for any other apps such as PCB software or CAD!

Can I submit my project to another Hack Club program?

Double-dipping isn't allowed, sorry!

When does Digit end?

Digit runs from Aug 3 – Aug 17, 2026, but we may extend it or launch a v2!
